Ivan was a Research Associate on Strand 1 of the MEITS project, which undertakes a study of cultural texts and events in relation to linguistic diversity, unity, identity, power, and quality of life. This strand considers the cases of Catalonia and Ukraine. Ivan’s research focused on investigating the role of contemporary works of literature, film, and theatre in the online public discourses of opposing sides in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and explored the symbolic role of language therein. He completed his BA and MA in Sociology at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ukraine, and his PhD at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
