Celebrating cultural diversity in Cambridge

On Sunday 19 November, the MEITS team took part in another collaborative community event, this time led by the Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum http://www.meits.org/files/events/uploads/Cultural_Diversity_Day_2017_flyer_2017-11-13.pdf. With a day packed full of performances including traditional dance, music and culture, the Netherhall School site brought together a wide range of local communities to celebrate the diverse cultures and languages in the City. As part of its collaboration, the MEITS team ran a series of hands-on activities to engage audiences in questions relating to multilingualism and cultural identity. The event was a great success with a turn-out estimated at some 300 people. Adults and children alike joined us in discussing languages and took part in our always-popular ‘Polyglot Pond’ and ‘Lost in Translation’ activities.
