Linda's background is in foreign language teaching and foreign language teacher education. She researches learner beliefs and self-efficacy, language learning motivation, English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners' development, teacher education and education policy. Previous funded projects include a major national research project for the DCSF (now DfE), where she was co-Principal Investigator analysing policy interpretation by secondary school languages departments. Linda’s teaching and management experience includes co-ordination of the Languages Initial Teacher Education programme at Cambridge and management of the Cambridge postgraduate teaching course as a whole.
