Profile:

Daniel has worked as Research Associate in Strand 3 of the MEITS project. In 2016, he completed his PhD which examined innovation in the lexis of multi-ethnic youth peer groups in urban French. His research on the MEITS project has centred on the perceptions of the French public towards urban French as spoken in diverse, multilingual and multicultural contexts. This raised questions of contested national and ethnic identities and allowed for an investigation of non-standard French as a site of social fracture and protest, set against a backdrop of historically purist monolingual French language policy.
