New Policy Briefing on Modern Languages Educational Policy in the UK

Following a successful second policy workshop in December 2018 in Belfast, bringing together policymakers and academics from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, Wendy Ayres-Bennett, PI of MEITS, and Janice Carruthers, AHRC Leadership Fellow in Modern Languages, have published a new Policy Briefing on Modern Languages Educational Policy in the UK. Based on a comparative analysis of policy and practice across the four UK jurisdictions, recommendations are made for primary and secondary languages education, as well as for improving transition between the two, which has been highlighted as particularly problematic for foreign language learning.
